ThreadBridge vs Slack Connect
Slack Connect is Slack's own feature for looping in people at another company — but it only works Slack-to-Slack. If the other side is on Microsoft Teams, Slack Connect can't reach them at all, no matter which plan either org is on.
| ThreadBridge | Slack Connect | |
|---|---|---|
| Cross-platform | Bridges Slack to Microsoft Teams | Slack to Slack only — cannot reach Microsoft Teams |
| Plan requirement | Works on ThreadBridge's own plan, regardless of what either org runs elsewhere | Shared channels require both organizations to be on a paid Slack plan (Pro or above); the free Slack plan is limited to 1:1 external direct messages |
| What's shared | One Slack channel and one Teams channel, kept in sync in both directions | A Slack channel shared directly into another organization's Slack workspace |
| Cost | Free for 1 connection; then $39/month per connection | Included in Slack's paid plans — no separate charge |
When Slack Connect is the right tool
If the other organization is on Slack too, Slack Connect is the simpler answer: it's built into Slack, included once you're on a paid plan, and there's nothing extra to install or maintain.
When ThreadBridge is the right tool
Reach for ThreadBridge specifically for the case Slack Connect can't touch: one side on Slack, the other on Microsoft Teams. They're not really substitutes for each other — they solve different halves of the same problem.
